It started as a joke really, here we were a bunch of old guys getting back out there to skate after many years of inactivity and not being on a skateboard in a long time. On a whim I bought a new skateboard, I though "yeah, maybe I'll roll around a little, who knows, it should be fun." I did a little research on a internet and found a few skateparks in the area. I was bored one day, so I decided to visit the skatepark and maybe even ride. I went to XXX skatepark in Nashville. They have a mini-ramp and a bunch of other street obsticles which I wasn't interested in. I took the plunge and boought some pads and went out into the park. I was rusty, I hadn't rode a half-pipe in a good 12 years or so. Well that was it I was bit by the bug. In January of 2003, Sixth Avenue skatepark opened in downtown Nashville. I used peer pressure to get my old friend Elvis Wilson to join me in going to 6th Ave. There were a lot of young kids there of course, but just about every week we'd run into a new 30+ something there skating. This core group of skaters became what is now known as "Team Geritol". Most of us are recreational skaters, just doing what we enjoy.
