The Origin of Team Geritol
It started as a joke really, here we were a bunch of old guys getting back out there to skate after many years of inactivity and not being on a skateboard in a long time. On a whim I bought a new skateboard, I though "yeah, maybe I'll roll around a little, who knows, it should be fun." I did a little research on a internet and found a few skateparks in the area. I was bored one day, so I decided to visit the skatepark and maybe even ride. I went to XXX skatepark in Nashville. They have a mini-ramp and a bunch of other street obsticles which I wasn't interested in. I took the plunge and boought some pads and went out into the park. I was rusty, I hadn't rode a half-pipe in a good 12 years or so. Well that was it I was bit by the bug. In January of 2003, Sixth Avenue skatepark opened in downtown Nashville. I used peer pressure to get my old friend Elvis Wilson to join me in going to 6th Ave. There were a lot of young kids there of course, but just about every week we'd run into a new 30+ something there skating. This core group of skaters became what is now known as "Team Geritol". Most of us are recreational skaters, just doing what we enjoy. Our ranks seem to be growing with the July 2004 opening of CWC in Nashville. You can find us there early mornings on Saturday and Sunday...
